Health Care Decisions: Starting the Conversation
Friday, April 16, 2021 • 9:30 am – 11 am
LIVE WEBINAR
A large majority of patients and family members are interested in discussing end of life decisions with care providers and they expect care providers to initiate the conversation. Ideally conversations surrounding end-oflife care occur and evolve over time. Unfortunately, many times, this conversation does not take place until a crisis occurs.
Healthcare decision conversations must go beyond the narrow focus of resuscitation and heroic care. These discussions must address achieving important end-oflife goals and care expectations. This activity will prepare the learner to initiate conversations about health care decisions and end-of-life care.
Good communication can facilitate the development of a plan of care that is ethically sound and aligned with the patient’s wishes and values.
