Resilience Across Time: Navigating Trauma and Aging
Trauma in the lives of older adults can feel very isolating. Whereas events such as moving or breaking a hip may be perceived as “normal” developmental patterns by the rest of society, these life experiences can feel anything but normal to an older person. Kim will help us understand how coping skills change as we age. We will also consider how trauma experienced when one was young can have increased impact in later life.
Kim is a long-time friend of the Shepherd’s Center, serving on the Faith in Action Advisory Committee. She is a therapist and has her own practice in Winston-Salem. A significant portion of her practice is with older adults.
